This is a basic configuration for an nginx server listening on port 80 with the server name “localhost”. It serves files from /usr/share/nginx/html and has index.html and index.htm as default pages. Error pages for 500, 502, 503, and 504 errors are redirected to /50x.html. There are commented out sections for proxying PHP scripts to Apache or passing them to a FastCGI server. Lastly, there is a commented out section denying access to .htaccess files if the document root of Apache and nginx coincide.
