Marine contractor Van Oord is set to complete final testing of its new Deep Dig-It trenching machine, which was designed in collaboration with sub-sea technology firm Soil Machine Dynamics. The Tracked Remotely Operated Vehicle will be deployed at the HKZ Offshore Wind Farm in The Netherlands, where it will bury four export cables running from the windfarm to shore. The DBT2400 vehicle can achieve a 5.8 metre trench depth and has a 5.8 metre jetting and cutting tool, the deepest cutting tool that SMD has ever supplied.
