To create a tag in Git, you can use the following command:
git tag <tag-name>
Replace <tag-name> with the name of your tag. By default, this will create an annotated tag, which includes a message containing information about the tagger, date and time, and any message you provide.
For example, if you want to create a tag named “v1.0.0” for the current commit, you would run:
git tag v1.0.0
If you want to add a message to your tag, you can use the -a option followed by your message in quotes:
git tag -a v1.0.0 -m "Release version 1.0.0"
This will create an annotated tag with the message “Release version 1.0.0”.
Once you have created a tag locally, remember to push it to the remote repository using:
git push origin <tag-name>
This will make your newly created tags available on remote repositories as well so other team members can access them too!
