To further investigate the mechanism behind the effects of CMPs on T2DM, correlation analysis was conducted between gut bacteria, glucose metabolism indicators, and metabolites. The results showed that the relative abundance of p_Cyanobacteria, g_Blautia, g_Aerococcus, and g_Corynebacterium was positively correlated with total SCFAs and acetic acid (AA), while the relative abundance of g_Allobaculum and g_Aeromonas was negatively correlated with total SCFAs, AA, propionic acid (PA), and isobutyric acid (IBA). Additionally, Firmicutes’ relative abundance was negatively correlated with IBA and butyric acid (BA). Moreover, p_Firmicutes, g_Adlercreutzia, g_Clostridium, g_Aeromonas, and g_Shigella’s relative abundance was positively correlated with FBG, HOMA-IR, LPE, GLP-1, and PYY. On the other hand, Firmicutes’ relative abundance was negatively correlated with IBA and BA. These findings suggest that CMPs supplementation induces differential gut microbiota that may contribute significantly to T2DM development.
