As discussed in section 3.1, the precipitation of Al-rich and Ti-rich phases induced by annealing can have a significant impact on the corrosion properties of the alloy. Previous studies have shown that an increase in Al and Ti content can improve the stability of the passive film, leading to a reduction in both corrosion current density and passivation current density in CoCrFeNi(Al0.3Ti0.2)x HEAs []. The enhanced corrosion resistance attributed to Al addition may be due to its dominant role in stabilizing the passive film of CoNiVAlx []. To investigate the correlation between precipitates and passive film, an XPS analysis was conducted on the passive film after immersion in a 3.5 wt.% NaCl solution at 0.2 V for 2 hours to examine its composition.
