The Redis LPOP command is used to remove and return the first element of a list. This operation is also known as popping an element from the left end of the list. When executed, the LPOP command will remove the first item in the list and return it to the client.
Syntax:
LPOP key
Example:
redis> LPUSH fruit_list apple mango banana
(integer) 3
redis> LPOP fruit_list
"banana"
redis> LRANGE fruit_list 0 -1
1) "mango"
2) "apple"
In this example, we first insert three items into the “fruit_list” using the LPUSH command. Then we execute the LPOP command to remove and retrieve the first item (“banana”) from the list. Finally, we use the LRANGE command to display the remaining items in the list.
