Pham and colleagues developed a lattice superstructure made up of multiple crystal interfaces, which exhibited shear-banding behavior similar to that seen in metallurgical crystal twins. In a separate study, Lu and co-workers examined the hardening principle of inclusions and the strengthening mechanism of dual phase lattice structures. By changing crystal interfaces and incorporating nanocrystals, researchers have been able to control deformation patterns and damage mechanisms in lattice structures. Other studies have utilized contact between adjacent members, introduced holes, and analyzed defect types to enhance mechanical properties. These failure mechanisms provide valuable insights for designing new lattice structures with superior mechanical characteristics.
